Wild Turkeys on our Farm in Eastern Oregon!

Wild turkeys at Farm Fresh Living
A beautiful, sunny and very warm day in February brought out a variety of wildlife including this large group of wild turkeys. I saw this group advancing on a large block of perennials just breaking dormancy and couldn't resist snapping their picture before running them off.

Turkeys are not native to Eastern Oregon but the Oregon Game Commission introduced them in the 1960s, trading several large herds of Elk for the turkeys.

Interesting to watch and listen to as the gobble to each other, the wild turkeys can cause considerable damage to our plants, nursery stock and vegetable gardens if left alone.
