Alpine strawberry plants are ideal to grow in a patio container garden!

Alpine Strawberries growing in the winter
Nothing is more delicious than a handful of fresh alpine strawberries just picked off of the plant, especially in the dead of winter! We grew this lush container garden of alpine strawberries in our cold house during the winter and were quite pleased with the non-stop fruit it produced. The strawberry production did slow down to about 1/2 of what we receive in the summer, but we were more than pleased!

Alpine strawberries are scrumptious eaten right off the plant, tossed in a fresh mesclun salad or used in a wide variety of recipes from desserts to muffins. For a low-fat, delicious warm muffin recipe try our just developed this winter Low-fat Alpine Strawberry Muffin recipe.

Alpine strawberry plants are available at Farm Fresh Living online store or at our farm in Eastern Oregon in: 4" pot size, 5.5" pot size or as a pre-planted Alpine Strawberry hanging basket shown here ( there is a detachable hanger).
